We Treat All Sports Injuries Throughout Pasco County Florida
Our orthopaedic sports medicine program is led by Dr. Troy Pashuck along with Dr. Hanff and Dr. Cook. Working alongside physician assistants, athletic trainers, and physical therapists, we create a plan built around your sport, season, and goals.
If it moves, we treat it.
Conditions We Treat
A hyperextended elbow happens when the joint is forced backward, potentially damaging the following items. Severity ranges from mild ligament strains to complete dislocations. Only a medical professional can diagnose your injury.
- Sprains/strains, tendonitis, bursitis
- Stress fractures and acute fractures
- Cartilage injuries
- Knee: ACL/PCL/MCL injuries, meniscus tears, patellofemoral pain
- Shoulder: rotator cuff, labrum/SLAP, impingement
- Elbow/wrist/hand: tennis/golfer’s elbow, throwing injuries
- Hip and groin injuries
- Foot/ankle: Achilles tendon injuries, ankle sprains, plantar fasciitis
- Back and neck pain related to sport
Football & Basketball
Among young athletes, these two sports drive many visits. Typical conditions include ankle sprains, patellar “jumper’s knee,” shoulder instability, and knee ligament or meniscus injuries.
Hockey
With a busy nearby rink and year-round youth programs, hockey is big in our area. Common issues include AC joint sprains, shoulder labral tears, hip impingement/adductor strains (“groin pulls”), concussions, and finger/hand fractures.
Soccer
Fields stay active late into the evening, and so do soccer injuries. We frequently treat ankle sprains, hamstring and groin strains, shin splints/stress injuries, and knee ligament tears (including ACL), plus overuse knee pain.
Pickleball
From weekend play to tournaments, we see many pickleball injuries—most often meniscus tears, MCL sprains, patellar tendinopathy, wrist sprains, and rotator cuff irritation. Many injuries can be managed nonoperatively. For appropriate meniscus tears, minimally invasive knee arthroscopy (often called a “knee scope”) can help many patients return to the court once rehab is complete.
What to expect: The Florida Joint Diagnosis Process
Medical History
Our team of board-certified orthopaedic surgeons conducts a thorough history, including injury mechanism, aggravating/alleviating factors, and other details to help obtain the diagnosis.
Physical Examination
One of our orthopaedic surgeons will perform a thorough examination of your sports injury. We will look at stability and range of motion, noting any areas of tenderness or deformity.
Imaging Studies
X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs may be used to assess the extent of any damage, identify bone deformities, and determine the most suitable surgical procedure, if necessary.
Determine Next Steps
After reviewing your medical history and diagnostic results, we’ll discuss treatment recommendations, ranging from goal-based physical therapy to possible surgical intervention, depending on the injury. We believe in joint preservation and we offer orthobiologics (Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC)) as well as cartilage restoration procedure,s including MACI.
For parents and student-athletes
We see athletes of all ages, including pediatric and high-school competitors. We work closely with coaches and trainers to support safe return to play.
