Dr. Jennifer Cook is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who believes each patient and each problem is unique. While she is is a surgeon, she always promote nonsurgical treatment first. She strives to provide compassionate quality care in an efficient manner.
About
Dr. Cook joined our practice in August 2006, and since her start has performed over 7000 surgeries. She studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She then went to Boston where she received medical degrees from both Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During this time she was involved in the development and study of crosslinked polyethylenes which are used in most joint replacements today. She then completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction and sports medicine at the Insall Scott Kelly Institute in New York City.
Dr. Cook is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and specializes in minimally invasive surgery. She has been a pioneer in outpatient joint replacement and has been performing these procedures in an outpatient setting since 2018. She is also a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. She is the Medical Director of the state of the art ambulatory surgery center, Comprehensive Outpatient Joint and Spine Institute in Odessa, and serves as the Managing Partner of Florida Joint Care Institute.
Dr. Cook has served for over five years as the co-chair of the medical advisory board for Lantern, the specialty care platform that provides services to many self funded employers.
Dr. Cook has an avid interest in volunteerism and was involved with the Good Samaritan Clinic of Pasco for over ten years and served as Board Chair for five years. The clinic provides free health and dental services to Pasco County residents. She has also been a member of the philanthropic group Premiere 1000 which focuses on donations to Pasco County 501 C-3 organizations.
Dr. Cook has been involved with the Perry Initiative for over a decade. This annual program allows local high school girls to spend a day with hands-on training in engineering and orthopaedics. The lab gives these young women an opportunity to practice suturing and perform surgeries on bone models. She also co-founded the charity organization WOGO (Women Orthopaedist Global Outreach).
Dr. Cook’s areas of expertise include primary knee, hip, shoulder, and reverse shoulder replacements, revision knee replacements, arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder, ligament reconstruction including primary and revision ACL reconstruction, primary and revision rotator cuff and labral repairs, instability surgery for the knee and shoulder, and fracture management. She also performs surgery for metastatic bone lesions. She treats all ages and treats most pediatric orthopaedic injuries. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals.
She loves spending time with her husband and daughter and enjoys playing golf, traveling, exercise, and playing the flute.
